Echinacea purpurea, sometimes called Coneflower, is a flowering herb native to North America.
There are many different species which were used by Native Americans for medicines, the most common of which today are the species Purpurea and Angustifolia.
This is a popular herb even today when it comes to natural immune boosting qualities. Many use Echinacea in teas, there are also many commercially available capsules and extracts of this plant. The most popular method of use is probably teas, and this herb is generally used when one is feeling a cold or sickness beginning as a means of helping to body to fight it off. It is said that Echinacea should not be taken regularly, as this causes the immune boosting effects to weaken and become less helpful.
